About Department
Department of Sanskrit, Karnataka State Open University was established in 1996. It offers B.A, B.Com, B.B.A, B.C.A, B.Sc (Sanskrit Language), M.A Sanskrit Courses. Many respected teachers and scholars have served the institution with great honour. The faculty of the department specializes in fields of study such as Sanskrit Literature, Grammar and Translation.
The Department of Sanskrit empowers students by encouraging critical thinking, which can spark creativity, innovation and encourage the values of critical reading, effective writing and the richness of Sanskrit Literature past and present. This further facilitates student acquisition of communication skills scientifically. Over the years, the department has organized conferences on various literary topics.
The M.A in Sanskrit programme introduces students to popular literary genres such as poetry, drama, novels, literary criticism and theory. Poetry captures the twists and turns of life and experiences and gives us different perspectives on life. A drama or play engages the audience on different levels. In a play, the plot is the basic level of communication. Prose is highly justifies certain concerns, universal and profound, in the model of the world.
The M.A Sanskrit programme provides a foundation for students to open opportunities for further study in the field of Sanskrit Literature and enhance their academic, cultural and social experience. The program facilitates the selection of students for professional qualification and improvement of Sanskrit Language skills and provides a platform to realize their potential to expand literary horizons in the world of modern literature.
