Dr.Ambedkar Chair was inaugurated on 21-10-2005 at KSOU the Hon\u2019ble member of Planning Committee Dr.Balachandra Mangakar formally inaugurated it.<\/p><p>Since 2005 to 2019 the chair is functioning in a separate office spreading the principles and ideas of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar to the people and students in association with various educational institutions. It is also running some Diploma courses.<\/p><h4><b>Following are the objectives of B.R.Ambedkar Study Centre.<\/b><\/h4><p>\u2022 Opening Reading Room (Library containing the books and articles written by Dr.Ambedkar and on Dr.B.R.Ambedkar for the use of teachers, students and the public.<\/p><p>\u2022 Conducting seminars, Special Lectures and Workshops about Dr.B.R.Ambedkar at KSOU headquarters, Regional Centres and Study Centres.<\/p><p>\u2022 Sponsoring Research Projects about Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and publishing Research works.<\/p><p>\u2022 Studying about the influence of Social and Political theories in their thoughts of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.<\/p><p>\u2022 Conducting lectures on Dr.B.R.Ambedkar principles and ideologies and Buddha, Basava, Gandhi, Lohiya and other socialist thinkers philosophiers and ideologies.<\/p><p>\u2022 Creating opportunities for the research work related to the rural SC\/ST and OBC\u2019s Socio-economic situations.<\/p><p>\u2022 Conducting Diploma and Certificate Course related to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar<\/p><p>\u2022 Achieving Co-ordinating with non-government organizations which are involved in the similar kind of activities by conducting such and other programmes, the centre has the objectives of making the thoughts of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar reach the students and the general public.<\/p><h4>The Vision of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Studies &amp; Research Centre :<\/h4><p>Karnataka State Open University which has a motto of Higher Education to Everyone and Everywhere has established \u2018The Ambedkar Chair\u2019 with the signature of the Hon. Governor and Pro-Chancellor to conduct various Academic Activities on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar\u2019s thoughts at the KSOU. It was on 21-10-2005 that the Chair was established with the formal inauguration by the planning Hon. Committee member Dr. Balachandra Mungerkar.<\/p><p>Columbia university, one of the most prestigious universities in America has certified after conducting a survey that Dr. B R Ambedkar is a great humanist of 20th century, a great intellectual and a pioneer of social change. Recently, CNN and IBN TV channels have conducted surveys and revealed that after Gandhi, Dr. B R Ambedkar is the greatest Indian. To study the life, writings, speeches and thoughts of such a great man KSOU has started Dr. B R Ambedkar study and research centre.<\/p><p>Since 2005, the centre has a separate office of its own and has been conducting programs and academic courses in association with different educational institutions in its way to reach out the principles and ideologies of Dr. B R Ambedkar to the people and students.<\/p><p>On 09-02-2010 the Ambedkar Chair was renamed as Ambedkar studies and research centre with the approval of the Board of Mangement of KSOU and the centre was converted into a separate study centre.<\/p><p>The Centre had the study of Ambedkar as the focal objective and it has been running PG diploma courses in Ambedkar studies since 2010 till 2021. Students have been studying in PGCAS Course in the current year 2021-22.<\/p><h4>The Mission of Dr. B R Ambedkar Studies and Research Centre :<\/h4><p>\u2022 Organizing Special Lectures, Workshops, national and international Conferences.<\/p><p>\u2022 Opening of a library containing the books, articles, and writings of Dr. B R.Ambedkar.<\/p><p>\u2022 Organizing seminars, special lectures and workshops related to Dr.B.R. His role as the chairman of Drafting Committee of Indian Constitution and as a first Law Minister of Independent India always remembered in the history of this great nation. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar not only discussed Socio-economic evils of India but also provided solutions. His views on caste, untouchability and social-structure have indelible impact on socio-economic, political and religious system of the country. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar basically a great humanist, Democrat, Epoch maker, Socialist and Statesman believed in bloodless revolution through the parliamentary democracy. He propounded theories which interpreted Indian Social System. One can see trace of Babasaheb\u2019s radiant vision in the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the U.N.General Assembly to eliminate poverty, hunger and socio-economic inequality by 2030.<\/p><p>\u2018Babasaheb Dr.B.R.Ambedkar is not merely an ordinary man, but a great power and an ideal man, who is acceptable to all times\u2019. If he were to be an ordinary person, the World would not have recognized him, since he was an extraordinary great person, the whole world is praising him. All Indians should feel proud of him as UNO (United Nations Organization) itself is observing his birthday. His thoughts and ideas are highly valuable and are always relevant. We believe that social equality, Social harmony and social justice can be achieved only by following the path shown by him. Dr.Ambedkar was not against any individuals, but he was against all types of exploitations. He faced innumerable humiliating situations in India, but he never thought of taking revenge. In all his life he drank the poison but gave us only nectar. While he was framing the Constitution of India, he never thought of taking revenge on any community, which oppressed and exploited him since his childhood, but he gave us an Ideal Constitution which will protect the interests of all the people of India. This shows his great patriotism and his generosity.
