Mahatma Gandhi Study Chair

Introduction

As per KSOU sub rule XIX and case 23(3) of KSOU Act 1992, with the signature of the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka and Pro-chancellor with the purpose of carrying out various academic activities at Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts at the KSOU. Mahatma Gandhi Chair was inaugurated on 21-10-2005 at KSOU.

  • To ensure sustainable human development which encourages self-reliant and self- content society and to develop the culture of simple living and high thinking.

Mission

  • To impart necessary training to teachers to create self-reliant society for future.
  • To educate students in areas like management, finance, human relations to inculcate philosophy of simple living and high thinki

About Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi 

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948) was an Indian lawyer,  anti-colonial nationalist  and political ethicist  who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India’s independence from British rule, and to later inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. The honorific Mahātmā (Sanskrit: “great-souled”, “venerable”), first applied to him in 1914 in South Africa, is now used throughout the world.
