“Higher Education to Everyone, Everywhere” Department of Education was started in the year 1973 in ICC & CE of University of Mysore with B.A. in Education. KSOU was established in 1996 and after fulfilling the norms, got recognition from NCTE to start B.Ed. and M.Ed. with an intake of 500 students and 475 students respectively. KSOU was the first university to start M.Ed. programme through Distance mode. Department of Education is the pioneer in introducing SLM in KSOU in 2000. Programmes offered by the Department of Education are: B.A in Education, B.Ed. and Ph.D. M.Ed.,(upto 2014-16), B.Ed. in Spl. Education(upto 2014-16 with RCI Recognition) and PGDHE(upto 2014-15). The Department is offering M.A in Education from the academic year 2021- 22(July cycle).

School of Education in KSOU is committed to provide quality education to students who aspire to become teachers or educational professionals.
